The Candle Field
So, sometime in October I misplaced my Camera/computer cord, and I finally got a replacement today, so I have pictures to share.
First off, my submission to the Lawndale Retablo Show this past year:
This isn't the best picture of it. well, this is the best picture, but it's a wee bit blurry. anyway, xylene transfer of a digital drawing. I was pretty pleased with the effect

My Weird Eye Thing
I may have described this before, but I thought of a great way to describe my weird eye thing, while riding home from work today. Using Choral and duet terms!
Now, most peoples eyes do this:
They work like a choir singing the same information to the brain, and occasionally focusing on one thing.
People with a Lazy eye function like this:
One Eye directs while the other offer harmony.
My eyes, though, are more like this:
They function as a Counter-point to each other, sometimes in Unison, and sometimes offering wildly different songs to my brain, but both of the same import and intensity.

Down in Fraggle Rock
If one arranges the characters of Fraggle Rock against the Hindi cosmology, then an interesting relationship might be noticed
The Gorgs, being the growers, can be identified with Brahma the creator. (this is further stressed by how, if they can't grow radishes anymore they will disappear)
The Doozers, being the constructors and maintainers, can be identified with Vishnu.
The Fraggles, being all chaotic and dancey and destructive of both the Gorgs' radishes and the Doozers' radish structures, can be identified with Shiva.

Everything is part of its own epic. This is the Credo that shapes this Body of Work. All candid pictures, they have been rendered slightly into a drawing style to evoke a more "created" appearance to the image. Then speech or thought bubbles, iconic tools of Sequential Art, are added to imply a narrative. The Name of this Body of Work also harkens to Sequential Art, specifically the technique of starting a story with a grand image and beginning in Medias Rae.

Some One-off Photography and Drawings this week, but first I modeled at Rice this week and while there was a wide range of skills and styles, one student in particular was experimenting in an awesome way. Her name was Jessica Streets, and on the first day she was using painter's tape to describe the lines:
and then on the second day she was doing similar stuff, but with thread and glue:
It was particularly cool, and it's always neat to see someone doing a art technique that you wouldn't have ever thought of yourself.
On to what I did.
Starting with photography,
Skylight:

Express
I also played around with drawing in Flash with a kind of linear Flat Art Style. I like it, but no one else has said anything about it, so I have no idea if I'm onto anything or not:
The Business
Morning Time
The Vaguries of Love
knitted sculpture 1 on Monday
